Open Tuesday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
And by appointment

The museum presents changing historic exhibits throughout the year.   Admission is free. A permanent research library includes archives of town-related history, including records of government, organizations, families, as well as household, toys, business and farm implements.   Tours are often organized for school children and other organizations.

The Barrington Preservation Society has an active program to identify homes and neighborhoods of merit.   Since 1965, the Society has awarded more than 150 plaques to homes that have retained their original architectural integrity and are at least 100 years old.   The Society has also been instrumental in the listing of the Alfred Drown and Jennys Lane neighborhoods on the National Register of Historic Places.

A variety of items are available for sale at the museum, including posters from house tours in 2005 and 2007 and books on Barrington's history, including the Society's recently published "Barrington by the Bay," a history of Barrington now used as part of the curriculum in Barrington's third grade classes.

Those interested in membership or wanting to learn more about the Barrington Preservation Society are encouraged to call 401-289-0802.
