MISSION
STATEMENT:
The mission of the Barrington Senior Center is to provide opportunities for:

SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD:
Appointed by
the Town Council, a seven member board of Barrington residents
works with the Director to oversee the Senior Center funded
by the Town of Barrington and the RI Dept. of Elderly
Affairs. Present Board members are:

MEMBERSHIP:
The Barrington
Senior Center is open to any individual 55 years and older.
There is no membership charge for general Center activities.
The Barrington Senior Center is handicapped accessible.
SENIOR
ACTIVITIES CLUB:
Made up of Center
participants who wish to take an active role in planning
and executing Center trips. A yearly membership fee of
$5.00 allows a discount on trips. However, it is not necessary
to join the Club to participate in Senior Center activities.
The Club has its own set of by-laws, approved by the Senior
Services Advisory Board. Officers are elected by Club
members and general meetings are held quarterly.
PROGRAMS: The Senior Center sponsors a variety
of programs including those listed. Many activities are
free:

Fitness Opportunities
Also, we offer Art, Bingo, Bridge, Carving, Chorus, Computer Classes, Games & Cards, Dancing, Knitters, Line Dancing, Speakers, Yoga, Exercise Class, Band Music, and
special monthly programs.
MEALS:
Sponsored
by EBCAP, catered by Cranston Senior Center, meals are served Mondays through Fridays
at 11:45 am. Menus can be picked up at the Center.
Reservations must be made 24 hrs. in advance at the Center,
in person or by calling 247-1926. There is a requested
donation of $3.00.
NEWSLETTER:
Published monthly, the Senior Center Newsletter contains
information on activities and programs, information of
special interest to older adults, a calendar of events
and a monthly menu. Mailed on request, it is widely displayed
at area businesses.
TRANSPORTATION:
The Senior
Center bus is free and available to Town Senior
Citizens on weekdays for transportation to and from the
Center, weekly shopping trips and local appointments,
when possible. Reservations must be made the day before
transportation is required.
HEALTH
AND WELL BEING:
The Center, through its association with area agencies,
provides:
*Health & Fitness Programs,
*Health Screenings
*Information on area services for seniors.
FRIENDS
OF THE BARRINGTON SR. CTR.
is a non-profit organization formed to assist the Town
in funding Senior Center projects, especially the Outreach
Program. There is a membership drive every Fall.
THE
OUTREACH WORKER is stationed at the Senior Center and can be reached at
247-3791, she provides information about resources and
institutes the emergency dialer program for seniors in
town.
