Web site Committee charge
Motion by Mr. Schwartz and seconded by Mr. Lazzaro to adopt a charge for the Website Committee, as follows: The Website Committee is charged with supervising the content, vision and direction of the town website. The Committee will interface with the Town Council for the purpose of determining overall goals and major decisions and with municipal departments for the purpose of receiving information and, where appropriate, overseeing department-direct content posting. The Committee will also work closely with the web master, providing guidance on function, content and design. The web master, in turn, is responsible for the day-to-day technical maintenance of the site and content management. Passed unanimously. Adopted unanimously by the Barrington Town Council on June 1, 2009.

The Barrington Website Committee is a group of local volunteers and one paid consultant to be webmaster whose mission is to create a presence on the internet which promotes the Town of Barrington, RI and serves as a community resource by providing unique and valuable information to its citizens. The site also allows the town a vehicle to be in compliance with state mandates regarding open meeting laws. Coming online in 1997, The Official Website of the Town of Barrington is a municipal site. It exists solely to provide easy access of town information to the residents of Barrington. Unlike other websites with ".com," or ".biz designations, our website is not fueled by business incentives, such as tourism, real estate or other private interests.

The Barrington Website Committee usually meets 7:30 pm every third Wednesday of the month (with the exception of the summer months of July and August) in the upstairs meeting room of the Barrington Library. The meetings are open to the public and we encourage anyone to attend. The agendas and minutes of our meetings are available for all to see and we would love to receive feedback as to the type of information the citizens of Barrington would like to have on their website. To suggest items for discussion, simply send an email message to the Webmaster.
