Tax Collection
Department Functions
The Tax Collection Office is responsible for managing the overall tax revenue process for the Town, which primarily consists of collecting and recording all real estate, personal property (tangible), motor vehicle excise taxes, and sewer fees. Additional functions of the office include:
- Issue and mail bills in coordination with the Tax Assessor's Office.
- Manage ACH tax payments.
- Prepare Municipal Lien Certificates as requested.
- Enforce payment of delingquent accounts through various collection methods.
- Submit delingquent motor vehicle and tangible personal property accounts to the Town's collection agency and delinquent motor vehicle taxpayer information to the State of Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles.
- Coordinate annual tax sale for delinquent real estate accounts.

The Finance and Tax Collection window is on the first floor of Town Hall. Please use the front door to the left. Accessibility entrance is to the rear of Town Hall.
Finance and Tax Collections is open Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon
