The Barrington Police Department is seeking POST Certified Officers to join our team. Barrington is a close knit community with approximately 17,000 residents and a vibrant seasonal population. Our department consists of 27 Sworn Police Officers and offers the following opportunities for advancement:

POLICE / FIRE DISPATCHER
Full and Part Time
The Town of Barrington is seeking both a full time and part time Police/Fire dispatcher to receive routine and emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical or other services. Candidate must be able to ask basic questions; determine priorities, and dispatch police, fire, rescue, or other town personnel as necessary in accordance with established procedures. Candidate must have computer data entry experience, be able to multitask and have good customer service skills. Must be able to work 11:30 PM until 7:30 AM.
Full time position works four nights on followed by two nights off. Starting salary is $39,421 now and $42,307 in July with regular increases to $49,864 plus competitive benefits.
The part time position works two nights on followed by four nights off. Starting hourly rate is $18. Per hour.

The Barrington Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of firefighter. The individual should demonstrate good moral character and judgement, be able to handle high pressure situations, and demonstrate good problem-solving and leadership skills. The Town of Barrington's Fire Department is an integral part of the public safety system in the Town and continually strives to provide a caring, courteous and a highly competent Fire and Rescue Emergency service. We service over 17,000 residents and a small business district in town. With over 19 miles of coastline, Barrington is known as a seaside community with a beautiful town beach and five marinas.
Salary: $47,373 with regular step increases to $65,971

CDL DRIVER / GENERAL LABORER
The Barrington Public Works department has an opening for a full time, safety minded Laborer (first shift). Incumbent performs a variety of general duties regarding the daily operations of the Town including highway, grounds and building maintenance divisions. Candidate will perform a variety of laboring tasks including snow removal, grounds keeping, landscape, carpentry, field maintenance etc. Ideal candidate will have experience in plumbing and/or masonry work.
Must have a current CDL and good driving record
Must pass a physical and drug test.
Must be flexible to work during storms or emergencies.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Starting salary $43,380 to start, $44,866 upon successful completion of probation.
