A Message from the Town Clerk's Office




Urging Residents to Use Online and Mail Services Available As you know, the Coronavirus (Covid-19) is in RI and diligence must be made to prevent the spread. In that effort, the Town of Barrington is advising residents and businesses to take advantage of its Online, Mail-in services and utilization of the Town’s Drop Box located at the left front door of Town Hall. The following services are available:

Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates

Please use this link for the appropriate application. You are asked to fill out the application, supply a copy of your drivers license and submit a check made out to the Town of Barrington.  You can mail it to:  283 County Road, Attn:  Town Clerk’s Office, Barrington, RI  02806 or you may drop it in the DROP BOX in front of the Town Hall (left front door).

The Town Clerk is appointed by the Town Manager and serves as clerk of the Council, Financial Town Meeting, Probate Court, and Board of Canvassers and is the Recorder of Deeds. The Town Clerk has a staff of two full-time clerks and one part-time clerk. Clerk to the Trustees, Amey Tucker Spencer Trust Fund.



The Town of Barrington is collecting email addresses to inform the public of important information regarding:

  • Barrington Board Meetings: Are there boards that you are interested in attending.

  • Board of Canvassers: Elections - registering to vote, and dates of upcoming elections.

  • Emergencies: Storms, power outages

  • Financial Town Meetings: Reminders for the FTM and Budget Hearing

  • Financial Town Meeting

  • Dog Licensing Licenses are issued annually from March 1- April 30. A late fee of $10.00 is applied to renewed licenses after April 30th.






  • Licensing which includes entertainment, liquor and victualling



  • Permits which includes amplification, banner, junk, private detective, and secondhand dealers


  • Family farm records

Office Location

The Town Clerk’s Office is centrally located on the first floor at Town Hall, 283 County Road.
