Field Use

Field Closure Updates

ATTENTION: Weather permitting, Dept. of Public Works will continue to monitor the fields to determine field closures.  If fields are closed, a Red Alert will appear at the top of the page of our website (Barrington.ri.gov) stating "Temporary field closures to all sporting activities."

If you'd like to be notified via email for field closures, please sign up to be included on that email list here. All email notifications of field closures will be sent only to those signed up here beginning December 1, 2025, so please be sure to sign up before then if interested.

Please check back for updates.

Field Use

All requests to use Town of Barrington fields or spaces, including portions of Haines Park*, initiate through the Recreation Office and must be submitted in Civic Rec, our new online registration and reservation platform. Civic Rec makes it easier for residents, leagues, and community groups to reserve fields, register for programs, and manage accounts all in one place.

Please click here to access Civic Rec, create an account, navigate to the Facility Reservations tab, and submit your request. For a step-by-step instruction guide on reserving fields & facilities within Civic Rec, please click here.

Please see below for information regarding League Field Use and Non-League Field Use. Be advised that submission of an application or reservation is not automatic approval, but you will be contacted with the status of your application within five business days of the request.

For questions regarding field use for leagues or special events not answered below, contact the Recreation Office. For questions regarding field lining or maintenance, please email John Renquinha, Superintendent of the Department of Public Works.

Haines Park 2025 Update:

Haines Park, Harrington One (1) is currently under construction. Please be advised: Additional temporary fencing will purchased and installed due to a significant number of residents and unleashed dogs entering the active construction zone. For everyone’s safety, the construction area must not be used or accessed by the public under any circumstances. Unauthorized use not only poses serious safety risks but also impacts project progress and cost. We respectfully ask all residents to avoid the area until the project is complete.
